Hello!! My name is Geri Tucker and I am a native of Southern Illinois. I am a child therapist here at SPERO Counseling and Wellness Center in Mount Vernon, Illinois. I received my Bacherlor’s degree in Social Work from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IIllinois in 2003 and my Master’s Degree in Social Work in 2004. I am currently working towards obtaining my LCSW and continuing my counseling career with the greatest group of professionals here at SPERO.

I have over twenty years of experience in the social services field and been blessed to help children dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, behavior challenges and grief. I’ve gained most of my clinical experience working with kids ranging from early childhood, middle childhood, adolescence and the early teenage years. I’ve worked in a variety of settings, including contract work within the school systems, community based programs, crisis hotlines, hospitals, emergency rooms, and in my current position as an outpatient mental health therapist.

Here at SPERO, we allow a non-judgmental, safe space for individuals to receive counseling services and process life situations and stressors.

Lastly, but not least, I have a Christian, God-based faith system and if that too is important to you, we can embrace that together.

Life is something we should grow through, NOT just go through.
