Become A Volunteer
Spero Friends Group–An organized body dedicated to improving the lives of the residents of Spero Youth Homes in Mt. Vernon. The Friends Group is full of compassionate men and women, willing to participate directly and indirectly with the youth. Monthly meeting held on the first Monday of the month at 9:30 am at Spero Main Campus. No meetings Jan, Feb, July & Aug.

- Estimated volunteering committment-1-2 hours a month
Seasonal or Annual Activities–Church groups, 4-h clubs or youth groups volunteering for a single activity with the Spero Youth
- Spiritual Life Events (Bible Studies, Worship Services, Drama Performances, etc.)
- Holiday Parties
- Game Nights
Special Event Volunteers–join a committee or help at one of our annual fundraisers.
- Trick-or-Trot 5k
- Festival of Trees
- Live Nativity
- Annual Golf Classic
Maintenance and Landscaping Services–church groups, clubs, youth groups volunteering their time and skills to make Spero Campus beautiful!
- Interviewing & Job Skills
For safety purposes, volunteers must be 21 years old and in some cases willing to submit to a background check (child welfare & criminal) and fingerprinting through the Illinois Department of Children & Family Services.
