Dana Hobbs
Outpatient Therapist
Spero Family Services
Hello! My name is Dana Hobbs. I am originally from Oklahoma, born and raised a SOONER fan, moved to Southern Illinois in October of 2019, and have called Du Quoin home for the past 2 of those years. During high school, I had the privilege of going to a Vo-Tech center where I worked to earn my Early Care Education certification. After high school, I worked with preschool and early head start students, then received my license to run an infant nursery. After several years of working with children in the school setting, I ventured out and started working in outpatient mental health. During this time, I was able to receive my Associate’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and my mental health case management certification. From there, I went on to receive a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice and worked in a maximum-security prison before moving to Illinois.
During the past few years, here in Illinois, I have worked in counseling with adults and children and also in a behavioral health inpatient unit where I provided Behavioral/Mental Health case management to individuals with traumatic brain injuries. I am currently a QMHP, providing counseling services to adults and children. I recently found that play therapy is an absolute passion of mine. Spero has allowed me the opportunity to grow as a therapist and add even more certifications to my achievements. It is an absolute honor to work with all my clients.
