TRAINING

DE-ESCALATING NEGATIVE BEHAVIORS

Kari Docherty

This training covers de-escalation techniques when working with children who have experienced trauma. These children can be “triggered” by everyday activities, environment, as well as a number of other stimuli. The primary goal of this training is to give providers steps to help a child self-regulate their emotions before they harm themselves or others. Another goal of this training is teaching children how to utilize co-regulation techniques and healthy coping strategies.
